Description:
The Boca Raton Public Library is pleased to announce a new photo exhibit by Veronique Viardin called Pride & Honor: Native-American Indian Portraits at the Downtown Library. Visitors will enjoy a spirited collection of black-and-white portraits depicting modern-day faces of Native-American Indians. These stunning photographs were taken at a pow-wow ceremony where Native-American Indians united to celebrate their heritage with feasting, singing and dancing. French-Puerto Rican photographer Veronique Viardin is inspired by nature and the human condition. Driven by her curiosity, sense of wonder and love of art, she is inspired to create fine-art photography saturated with equal parts beauty and emotion. The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular library hours.

Join Maria Fadiman, Ph.D., associate professor of geosciences, as she takes you through a journey into the rainforests of Latin America, the savannas of Africa and into the Bahamas where she worked with a National Geographic team. The Library continues its 2019 Story Central theme, Cultural Connections, with a performance by Jamaican storyteller, Debra Ehrhardt. In Jamaica Farewell, Ehrhardt shares how she achieved her teenage dream of coming to the United States by smuggling $1 million from Kingston to Miami. This extraordinary show, directed by My Big Fat Greek Weddings Joel Zwick, has played around the country to massive acclaim. A 2007 New York City Fringe Festival award-winner, Ehrhardt received a Proclamation from the city for her outstanding contribution to the Jamaican community. The show has been optioned by a major Hollywood producer, and Ehrhardt is adapting it for the big screen.
